Context

National context:

Romania – there is a long tradition before 1990, with over 45,000 hectares cultivated and a complete value chain, which was interrupted after 1990 and currently there is no longer the link of primary and secondary processing between agriculture and industries;

Cultivated areas – currently just over 1000 hectares, but there is the ability to quickly scale cultivation to several tens of thousands of hectares;

Cultivation support through the Ministry of Agriculture is insufficient to support a recovery; incomplete use of the plant also does not help the motivation of growers; Currently, only seeds, leaves and flowers have a market.

International context: We are witnessing the intensification of European and national recommendations for aligning standards with environmental protection requirements for companies, starting with those listed on stock exchanges, therefore we believe that CANEPARO members will have an advantage and will be in a position to decide in active mode compliance mode.
